Please lift the ban on Alchoholic advertisements

Recently the Food and Drugs Board issued a fiat against advertisements of hard liquor and bitters. The FDB’s excuse was that manufacturers of alcohol have misconstrued market authorisation given them to mean running advertisements ad infinitum.
While we should task the FDB to explain why market authorisation should not include adverts, we need to question where it derives the authority to issue such edicts without recourse to the commercial, revenue and employment implications for the country.

IMANI Wins Alcohol Advertisement Policy Battle

Following recent media, as well as roundtable discussion on advertisement alcoholic beverages generated by IMANI and the Ghanaian Food and Drugs Board, Franklin Cudjoe and the F&D Board, successfully wrote, signed and executed a press release lifting the ban on alcoholic beverage advertisements on Friday, October 19 2007.
