Third National Alcohol Policy Workshop

A Consideration of Draft National Alcohol Policy
It was clear from the extensive media reportage that the November 29, 2007 debate was constructive and bore testimony to the calibre of the delegates who represented a cross section of government and interest groups.
See two major reports in the state-owned Ghanaian Times and Daily Graphic of December 5, 2007 and December 3, 2007 here
Dr. Keith Evans left the workshop armed with the suggestions and concerns of the meeting, and committed to develop an alcohol policy which would reflect the feelings of the meeting.
Dr. Keith asked us to reconvene the original delegates and other interested parties, where he presented the draft alcohol policy.
The purpose of the workshop was to;
- Consider the draft national alcohol policy
- Approve the draft with whatever amendments are considered appropriate by the delegates
- Debate and agree the process to introduce the policy to government for adoption.
A draft recommendation emerged from the conference and it is here for your perusal.
Please note that this is not the final draft. We have since finalised the draft and are ready to present to the government.
