Last October 2008, IMANI’s CEO facilitated a high-powered Ghanaian delegation to the second regional meeting of ICAP.  
Mr. Franklin Cudjoe, whose IMANI facilitated Ghana’s draft policy on alcohol spoke on Partnership &#038; Multi-sectoral Approaches in Alcohol Policy formulation.  The former Deputy Minister of Health for Ghana, Hon. Abraham Dwumah Odoom underscored the need to have a good alcohol policy.  
He was very glad that Ghana had set the pace for successful draft of the policy and was ready to present to Parliamentary Committed on Health as well ...]]></description>

<p>Mr. Franklin Cudjoe, whose IMANI facilitated Ghana’s draft policy on alcohol spoke on Partnership &#038; Multi-sectoral Approaches in Alcohol Policy formulation.  The former Deputy Minister of Health for Ghana, Hon. Abraham Dwumah Odoom underscored the need to have a good alcohol policy.  </p>

Armed with education on self-regulation practices, Mr. Cudjoe successfully negotiated with Ghana’s Food and Drugs Board a reasonable end to a temporary ban on alcoholic adverts, some of which the FDB had not sanctioned and rightly asserted they offended sensual senilities of children.

<p>The successful end to the misunderstanding between the formal alcohol beverage economy and the FDB was done in the spirit of mutual respect or what is now known as co-regulation.</p>
